Al decennialang reist de landschaps- en reisfotograaf Martin Kers de hele wereld over en bouwde ondertussen aan een imposant oeuvre met de meest indrukwekkende foto's van zo'n beetje elk uithoekje van de aarde. Voor het boek 'De essentie van reizen' maakte de fotograaf unieke, nieuwe beeldverhalen van de mooiste foto's uit zijn archief. Poëtische collages waarbij Kers de lezers hun eigen avontuurlijke reizen en eigen associaties laat maken.
Het boek telt meer dan 300 pagina's en is exclusief vormgegeven. De tekst is van Koos de Wilt.

The author Martin Kers is an internationally renowned and leading Dutch landscape and travel photographer having successfully published many books about landscapes in Holland and the world. The co-author Koos de Wilt is an art writers in the Netherlands and has successfully published many books on art, architecture and culture. For instance his book ‘Think Like an Artist, Don’t Act Like One’, sold in all major museums around the world, ‘Amsterdam Canal Houses’ about historical cultural heritage, and ‘Het Grote Rijksmuseum Voorleesboek”, one of the most successful art book for children ever published in the Netherlands in close cooperation with the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.

The ‘Essence of Travelling’ is a true magnus opus, the ultimate timeless travel book comprising 150 poetic travel stories -300 pages 3000 mesmerizing photos- from all over the world gathered over a fifty-year period. The content is carefully curated, comprising six chapters with themes that define the essence of travel: Originality, Living together, Pushing the boundaries, Culture, Development and Imagination.
